Time billing cloud app Replicon has opened up an Australian office to target professional services and IT consulting companies. Four sales staff had joined the Sydney office and the company hoped to double head count by next year. Replicon had put a lot of effort into its user interface to differentiate it from the competition.

“A lot of systems benefit the administrators but rarely does time tracking software help the end user,” said Keri Brooke, vice president of product marketing at Replicon. Consultants had improved their time recording accuracy from 50 percent to 90 percent by moving to Replicon, Brooke said.

Replicon Timesheet

“We’ve made it extremely intuitive to use. It’s really easy to enter time, whether on a mobile device, web, a cloud clock app that runs on tablets. It provides users with reporting and they can see where the approvals are. Users still get the analytics usually reserved for the managers,” Brooke said.

Companies often installed Replicon to track one area such as time off work, and then used it for other tasks such as project tracking or client billing. “I had one customer using it for time off and the creative director began using it to manage internal creative projects. Once people understand that a timesheet is not for one area of the business, that’s where we begin to win,” Brooke said.

Replicon was suitable for any industry which had reasonably large workforces generating time records for internal or external billing, said John Kearney, Vice President, Sales, Replicon Asia Pacific. The largest number of customers (over a quarter) were IT services companies which had high-value hourly rates. Accounting firms used Replicon to track projects.

Replicon integrated with MYOB and QuickBooks and could connect to HR systems or a project cost accounting system in SAP, for example. The 16-year-old company had 1.5 million customers and its app scaled from small businesses to enterprises. About 2,500 customers had between 50 to 100 employees.
