Malaysia: Additional Holiday Declared for Hari Raya Aidilfitri

In accordance with Section 8 of the Holiday Act (“HA”), the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint a day to be observed as a public holiday in addition to any of the public holidays declared under the First Schedule of the Act.
Hari Raya Aidilfitri is a public holiday in Malaysia. It is a time when Muslims celebrate the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. The announcement of the date for Hari Raya Aidilfitri is based on the sighting of the new moon.

Consequently, Friday, April 21, 2023, and Monday, April 24, 2023, shall be observed as paid public holidays. Therefore, it shall be a four-day long weekend in conjunction with the festival.
