Replicon Goes Carbon-Neutral

April 22 2008 – Calgary – Replicon Inc., the world leader in time and expense tracking software, today announced it is carbon-neutralizing its corporate operations with offsets from leading offset firm Carbonzero.

Replicon’s carbon neutral goal is part of a broader internal sustainability strategy being pursued by the company as one of a very limited number of firms in their industry participating in the move to calculate, report, and offset their greenhouse gases.

For the calendar year 2008, Replicon will achieve net-zero carbon emissions for their operations through the purchase of 301 tonnes of certified emission reduction offsets from Carbonzero. This amount represents emissions related to Replicon air travel and the emissions of their corporate headquarters.

“Replicon is actively engaged in climate change issues domestically and internationally. We’ve gained useful insight about how small and medium-sized organizations can set and meet internal greenhouse gas emission reduction goals and prepare themselves for participating in the emerging domestic emissions trading system,” said Raj Narayanaswamy, CEO of Replicon. “Our products are green—we develop productivity software that eliminates the need for paper time and expense records, and now we are pleased to be able to neutralize our overall environmental impact.”

Replicon’s products—Web TimeSheet, Web TimeOff and Web Resource—are 100% downloaded from the internet, eliminating waste such as cardboard, foam, and plastic from packaging. Replicon limits its own paper use by conducting most of its business online; documents such as quotes and contracts that are often faxed or mailed are sent by email instead. Replicon sees going carbon-neutral as an additional step in the effort to more environmentally aware. The offset funds from Replicon’s initiative will be dedicated to the funding of community wind projects in Canadian communities.

“We are very pleased to see Replicon take this Earth Day initiative,” said Kate Holloway, President and CEO of Carbonzero. “By committing to reporting and offsetting the emissions of its facilities as well as their air travel, Replicon is leading the way for corporate carbon responsibility in Canada.”
