1. First of all, tell us a bit about you. Why the HR space?
Keri Brooke I have worked with software my whole working life – using it as a finance leader, implementing it when a systems accountant, consulting on it at Hyperion and now building and selling it. Throughout that time the cloud has offered a better way for customers to do business with software vendors. Though I have worked with finance primarily in the past, the same holds true for human resources. The internal customer is often forgotten when it comes to IT projects, and the cloud represents a perfect opportunity for companies to quickly serve those internal customers rather than waiting for heavy, on premise projects to come to fruition. The workforce is changing and HR has to be able to react to this change and put systems in place in order for both HR executives and the companies they work for to be successful. I believe time is one of the most important pieces in managing that changing workforce, which is why I joined the Replicon team.

3. So for those who think Time and Attendance is a mature space, what innovations are occurring?

Workforce behaviors are changing. Traditional time tracking technology has been slow to catch up to the needs of the modern workforce, which values the ability to work on any mobile device, including iPhones, Android devices, and tablets. Today, employees and managers consistently prefer time-tracking practices and solutions that are accessible anytime and anywhere work is conducted. More than ever, a company’s performance relies on flexibly growing with, not rigidly resisting, the evolving needs of a highly dispersed labor force. Legacy manual timesheet tracking is slow and error-prone, but our cloud-based products and solutions take away that pain. Replicon provides an optimized and modernized process that helps HR stay compliant with laws as well as best practices, and dramatically reduces revenue leakage. The bottom line: companies will enjoy transparent, effective time management and increased profits.

4. Specific to Replicon, what are you doing in terms of innovation?

Replicon: Changing the Way Time & Attendance is Done! Because people tend to procrastinate and make all kinds of excuses when it comes to tracking their time, organizations are challenged to ensure that their payroll and projects are up-to-date. With this in mind, our development team created a user-influenced design that is clean and intuitive. The result is that there is no user interface available today that is as easy to use as Replicon’s. We are also agnostic as to how data gets into the system. Multiple channels ― including mobile devices, the web, and our CloudClock solution ― are made available to users. And, regardless of channel, the user interface is streamlined to be specific to the role of the end user, so screens are not cluttered with non-relevant tasks and activities.

5. Given that you have a broad base view into seeing how customers implement time tracking software, – what guidance would you give HR Practitioners to consider in optimizing time management?

First, errors and inefficiencies in tracking time are likely costing your company up to 8% of its annual gross payroll. Since roughly half of surveyed companies report that their employees dislike or have difficulty using their current time tracking applications, it’s no wonder that employees make timesheet mistakes and delay submitting them. Indeed, the majority of a company’s expenses are people-related. When HR practitioners commit to optimizing time management, they must consider their workforce: How does time tracking fit into your employees’ work schedules, and what technology tools can you utilize to simplify their time reporting and make it hassle free?
