Recently, the Pay and Leave Bill received royal assessment. The new rights afforded under the Parental Bereavement (Leave and Pay) Act 2018 take effect starting in 2010.

Parental Bereavement Leave
A bereaved parent is now entitled to the right to take at least two weeks’ leave in the event of the death of a one or more child (18 and under). A bereaved parent is required to take at least two weeks of time off before the 56th day following the death of the child.

The leave must be taken in blocks of one week at minimum. Leave usage can be continuous or discontinuous.
