Kuwait Private Sector Annual Leave to be Increased
Annual Leave is an essential part of the employment, and all employees are entitled to a certain amount of Annual paid leave to take a break from their job across the globe, the length of the Annual leaves varies from one jurisdiction to another jurisdiction.
In Kuwait, the National Assembly’s Health and Social Affairs Committee approved an amendment to labor law, by virtue of which there would be an increase to annual leave in the private sector to 35 days from 30 currently. The amendment applies to both Kuwaitis and expatriates employed in the private sector. Annual leave was raised to 30 days several years ago – not including Fridays, as Friday is a non-working day for all in the country and therefore cannot detract from ones leave.
The amendment was approved in March 2019.
