We’ve just released the new Smart Interface for our SaaS-based Web TimeSheet products. And I’m happy to say I think it’s a terrific step forward. It actually does feel faster, look better, and help you get things done more intuitively. Could I have said otherwise? Indeed I could. In fact, I can recall only a few times when I upgraded a computer program and was pleasantly surprised by how well its developers “got it.” I think the key in those instances was that the software’s interface had been redesigned in subtle ways, so I felt comfortable with the changes.
New features seemed like natural extensions of the ones I already knew. But I’ve also endured upgrades that—while they were supposed to be improvements—forced me up a steep learning curve. So, when I heard that Replicon planned to redo its timesheet interface, I hoped for the best.
I needn’t have worried —I love the new Smart Interface. All the features I used before are still there, as well as my customized settings, but the new intelligence and speed are terrific.
You’ll see for yourself if you’re one of our SaaS customers. (If not, sign up for a free trial)
Here are a half-dozen new things I really like:
The interface is easier to use and just plain looks better. Your eye falls more readily on the items you need.
You spend less time completing timesheets, running reports, etc. Everything executes up to 14 times faster, thanks to the web-based Ajax technology our developers used “under the hood.”
There are no more pop-up windows. You select clients, projects, and tasks directly from the timesheet itself.
It’s easier to locate your projects and tasks. Just start typing the name of a client, project, or task and you instantly see a list of options to choose from.
It’s easier to base a new timesheet on an old one. You don’t have to duplicate everything—you can copy only what you need.
If there’s an issue with data you’re working on, it’s identified on-screen before you submit the timesheet, so you can fix it immediately.
Log in and see what you think! We’d love to hear from you about our new Smart Interface.
