Replicon is proud and excited to announce that team member Jen Pearson was selected as a torch bearer for the 2010 Olympics. Jen fulfilled her flame carrying duties on January 19th and will no doubt carry the memory with her every day from now on!

It is always a thrill to have our staff members honored for their spirit of participation. We look forward to supporting each of our employees as they carry their passion and commitment into the community throughout this brand new year.

The Olympics represents many of the values that we seek to “replicate” here at Replicon. Our wonderful group exhibits a strong sense of teamwork and a belief that anything is possible. We also have a commitment to excellence. That’s why we set higher and higher goals for ourselves each year. So far, we haven’t faced a challenge we couldn’t overcome!

The results are in for the 2009 TechRev awards recognizing tech innovators in the Calgary area.  Now, sources ranging from the Techvibes.com blog to Alberta Venture Magazine and the local Calgary Herald are buzzing with information about the recipients of these accolades.  Although this is the first year TechRev presented this honor, competition was steep. 132 companies were under consideration – only 10 winners were chosen for special recognition.

These successful nominees include companies offering a variety of applications from biotech to collaborative hardware.  Established businesses as well as startups were represented in the lineup.  Here at Replicon, we are proud and happy to be listed among the top 10 innovators in our community.

What made our company stand out from the rest?  Products like Web TimeSheet that have been developed to put the customer’s needs first and which offer Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) for over 1.2 Million users in over 60 countries.  This Software as a Service approach uses sophisticated technology with a simple interface – offering companies quick deployment, easy adoption and low cost of entry.  It can also be seamlessly integrated with existing project management, accounting or HR/payroll software.

For those who aren’t familiar with the PROFIT W100, it’s an annual ranking of Canada’s most successful female entrepreneurs based on company revenue, growth and profitability. Lakshmi has been instrumental to Replicon’s success since she co-founded the company in 1996 with the aim of streamlining employee time tracking, payroll, project costing and client billing.

Replicon has once again joined the leaders of the software industry amidst companies like Microsoft, Oracle, and Google, gracing the ranks of the 27th Annual Software 500 for the 5th year running. Software Magazine and its annual Software 500 are the field guide for IT managers tackling critical business priorities.

“Being honored within the same category as Microsoft, IBM, and Oracle is a huge accomplishment for our team and we are very proud to once again be recognized on this list,” says Raj Narayanaswamy, Chief Executive Officer of Replicon. “Although the technology industry has been very vibrant, customers have become more fiscally cautious and expect stronger rates of return when purchasing software applications today – which bodes well for Replicon because our time and expense management solutions positively impact the bottom line.”

Congratulations goes out to Jessica Tackett from Southern Methodist University for her outstanding essay on how timesheet software can make a difference in business today.

Jessica’s essay unanimously scored the highest by our panel of 4 independent judges, ranking submissions based on a twenty (20) point scale: Five (5) point maximum for creative approach to addressing the chosen theme; five (5) point maximum for real-world business application; five (5) point maximum for clarity of message; and five (5) point maximum for demonstrated research, supporting statements or quotes.

We are very pleased to present Jessica with a $1000 USD credit to Southern Methodist University toward her tuition and/or educational fees (books/materials).

As a result of the tremendous success of our Timesheet Scholarship 2009, Replicon has decided to offer another scholarship opportunity, targeted at the Fall/Winter semester.

The scholarship will be open to any (currently enrolled) student over the age of 18 who is attending a state/provincially accredited college or university in the United States or Canada.

This month has been an exciting time for us, marked primarily by our acquisition of MySchedule.net – a company specializing in employee scheduling software. The acquisition has given us an opportunity to grow our products in new directions, and has brought some talented people into our midst.

With the help of our new scheduling gurus, we’ve been designing an online scheduling tool that will work with our Web TimeSheet software. The tool will give our customers the advantage of planning their employee work times and activities, and then tracking the actual work details in the timesheets.

The team has been working hard, and soon we should have a beta version to offer our customers. Keep your eyes open!

This blog will be a resource area, dedicated to posting valuable material on timesheets, time tracking, automated systems and SaaS (Software-as-a-Service). We will keep you informed on company news, product releases and updates, as well as any relevant industry news that can affect your business.
