Before installing the Integration Manager for Microsoft Project, know the Microsoft Project edition you're using and configure it to meet the requirements of the integration manager.

To configure Project Server 2007:

  • Log in to Microsoft Project Web Access. (For information on accessing the Web Access interface, contact your system administrator or refer to Microsoft Project’s documentation.)
  • Select Server Settings from the side menu.
  • From under Time and Task Management, select Task Settings and Display.
  • From the Tracking Method row, select the Hours of work done per period option.
  • From the Reporting Display row, select Resources should report their hours worked every day.
  • Select Save.
  • Sign out of Microsoft Project Web Access.

Any changes made to the Microsoft Project server configuration will only apply to projects added to the server after the changes.

To configure Project Server 2003:

  • Log in to Microsoft Project Web Access. (For information on accessing the Web Access interface, contact your system administrator or refer to Microsoft Project’s documentation.)
  • Select Admin from the top menu.
  • Select Server configuration.
  • Select the Enable enterprise features option.
  • Select Save Changes.
  • Select Customize Project Web Access.
  • Under Specify the default method for reporting progress on tasks, select Hours of work done per day or per week….
  • Under Time period settings, select:

    • Non Managed Periods
    • Resources should report their hours worked every day
  • In the Maximum number of hours that can be entered per day for a single task field, enter 0 if you do not want to limit the number of hours that can be entered. (Changing this setting is typically unnecessary; however, if you leave the field set to a specific number of hours, errors may occur during data transfer under some conditions.)
  • Select Save Changes.
  • Log off of Microsoft Project Web Access.

Any changes made to the Microsoft Project server configuration will only apply to projects added to the server after the changes.

If you are using Project Server 2003, then install Microsoft Project Server Extensions on the Microsoft Project Server machine.

Microsoft Project Server Extensions allows your machine to connect to the Microsoft Project 2003 server via the Integration Manager.

To install:

  • Select Integrations from the top menu in Web TimeSheet.
  • From the Modules side menu, select the name of the module you would like to install.
  • Download the extensions installation file from the page that displays.
  • This is the same page from which you will download the Integration Manager installation file.
  • Launch the installation file, and follow the instructions provided in the installation wizard that launches.

You will be required to enter the SQL Server name, Microsoft Project Server database name, Microsoft Project Server database user name, and Microsoft Project Server database password. Contact your system administrator if you are unsure of this information.
