Gaining business intelligence using your Replicon data

Looking for help with this feature in Polaris PSA or Polaris PPM? Check out Gaining business intelligence using your Replicon data in the Polaris help.

Your Replicon data is a rich source of information that can help you identify trends and issues that affect your business. To help you accomplish your business intelligence strategy, Replicon offers several options for visualizing your data.

First, we offer embedded dashboards within Replicon, that let you easily create visuals using data from across the product, including costing, billing, productivity, payable time, time off, and expense data.

Or, if you prefer using a dedicated data visualization tool, we offer sample dashboards and direct connection options for Tableau and Microsoft Power BI. And, if you use Google BigQuery for data warehousing, we have a connector for that, too.

Finally, if you want to build a custom connector, you can access our Replicon API for BI Services.

Using Replicon’s embedded dashboards

Replicon’s dashboard feature allows you to share custom graphical representations of your company's data with other decision-makers in your organization, all from within Replicon.

Charts always show real-time data, not data from the point when the chart was saved.

Refer to Using dashboards for more details.

Using a connector for Tableau

We offer three connection options for Tableau:

  • Demo dashboards
Demo dashboards include several pre-configured charts that are based on sample data. Use this option if you want to see what’s possible using Tableau.
  • Template dashboards
Template dashboards allow you to view demo charts populated with your organization’s Replicon data. Use this option if you want to use your own data, but you’re not very familiar with Tableau, and need a starting point to create custom visualizations.
  • Replicon’s Web Data Connector for Tableau
If you want to create charts from scratch in Tableau, this is the connection option you should try. With this native connector, data is sourced directly using Replicon API for BI Services.

All of these connectors are supported for use with the desktop versions of Tableau. They'll likely also work with other editions, though no other editions have been tested.

When you use a connector, users only see data that they have permission to view in the rest of the Replicon application.

Connecting to Tableau

For details on how to connect to Tableau using any of the connectors described above, refer to Using Tableau to analyze your Replicon data.

Using a connector for Microsoft Power BI

We offer three connection options for Microsoft Power BI:

  • Demo dashboards
Demo dashboards include several pre-configured charts that are based on sample data. Use this option if you want to see what’s possible using Power BI.
  • Template dashboards
Template dashboards allow you to view demo charts populated with your organization’s Replicon data. Use this option if you want to use your own data, but you’re not very familiar with Power BI, and need a starting point to create custom visualizations.
  • Replicon’s Connector for Power BI
If you want to create charts from scratch in Power BI, this is the connection option you should try. With this native connector, data is sourced directly using Replicon API for BI Services.

All of these connectors are supported for use with the desktop versions of Power BI. They'll likely also work with other editions, though no other editions have been tested.

When you use a connector, users only see data that they have permission to view in the rest of the Replicon application.

Connecting to Power BI

For details on how to connect to Power BI using any of the connectors described above, refer to Using Microsoft Power BI to analyze your Replicon data.

Pushing data to Google BigQuery for data warehousing

You can export data to your own custom Google BigQuery instance for data warehousing if. Contact your Customer Success Manager or Replicon Support for more information.

Creating custom connections using Replicon API for BI Services

If you want to build your own analytics connection, you can access the Replicon API for BI Services directly. Please contact your Customer Success Manager or Replicon Support for more information.

This option is typically used by customers who have their own proprietary data warehouse solution, so they require a custom connection.

FAQs

Where can I find Replicon's BI data model?

What if the native connectors are too slow?

Our native connectors meet the needs of the vast majority of our customers. However, if you have a very large database, you may find the native connectors too slow. If this is the case, connecting to Replicon data hosted in Google BigQuery may be faster. Contact your Customer Success Manager or Replicon Support for more information.
