What are managed vs unmanaged projects?
Typically, managed projects are ones you need to closely monitor and actively manage, whereas unmanaged ones require little or no ongoing attention.
When you add a new project, it will be classified as managed if the toggle located in the top, right-hand corner of the Projects page is set to Managed; likewise, it will be set to unmanaged if Unmanaged is selected.
You can change this setting at any time, using the Project Type field, located under Summary > Basic Info.
There are two functional differences between these project types:
- You can only use SmartBeats functionality with managed projects - if you plan to use SmartBeats for a project, make sure you set that project as managed
- They appear on different list pages - this allows you to keep projects that don’t require attention hidden most of the time
