In last week’s largest national HR Technology Conference, keynote speaker Josh Bersin predicted radical changes in the year ahead for HR professionals — a notion we saw constantly reiterated throughout the three-day Las Vegas event. With burgeoning AI, machine learning, automation, new tools for continuous assessment, and various other disruptive technologies, it’s clear that both the function of HR and the tools by which it performs those functions are quickly evolving.

A few notable trends for 2018:

AI is cropping up more and more

Many large HCM suite vendors have introduced system upgrades that bear the hallmarks of AI, and Ultimate Software even unveiled “Xander,” their new AI-based employee feedback platform. While analysts tend to agree that AI is still mostly in its infancy in HR Tech, and that there are no clear leaders yet in this space, we may not be far off from fully-realized AI technology for HR purposes.

Talent acquisition is hot

According to Bersin, the hottest area of investor interest is talent acquisition, which has become an “incredibly dynamic space” thanks to increased funding and innovation.

Video interviewing gets an upgrade

Companies like HireVue are making tools that can “capture a million data elements from one 15-minute interview.” This type of technology can totally revolutionize the way we conduct interviews and the data we use to assess candidates.

Year-end reviews are on the way out

Tools for continuous assessment — as opposed to the more traditional year-end review — are on the rise. A number of companies are developing a diverse range of tools for continuous assessment, so it’s up to each HR department to determine which specific approach is the right one for their company. Despite initially feeling disruptive to employees, continuous assessment usually leads to increased engagement.

We had a blast chatting with different folks about how Time Intelligence®️ can completely revamp their business both at our booth, as well as at a Replicon-sponsored dinner event at Bouchon (with guest speaker Hal Elrod). Check out some highlights below:
