Importing project from Microsoft Project to Web Resource involves a three step process,

  • Create an Export Map in Microsoft Project
  • Export data to a CSV file format.
  • Import the exported CSV file to Web Resource.

The export map in Microsoft Project helps create a CSV file in the format required by Web Resource and also helps specify which fields should be exported and in what format. To achieve this, the export map must be added to the global template. To add an export map in Microsoft Project to the global template, follow the steps given below:

  • Send a request to Replicon Support, requesting for the WebResource.mpt file from your Web Resource application.
  • Open the (.mpt) file with Microsoft Project.
  • Select Organizer from the Tools menu at the top menu bar.
  • Select the Maps tab in the Organizer dialog box.
  • At the bottom left corner of the dialog box, select WebResource.mpt from the available maps in the drop-down list.
  • At the bottom right corner of the dialog box, select Global.mpt from the available maps in the drop-down list.
  • Select WebResourceExport from the left pane, if not already selected.
  • Select the Copy >> button. The export map is now copied to the global template.
  • Close the Organizer dialog box.
  • The map will now be accessible from all projects, enabling you to export any project to CSV a format.

To export the projects to a CSV file format, follow the steps given below:

  • Open the project to be exported, in Microsoft Project.
  • Select Save As… from the File menu at the top menu bar.
  • Choose the location you wish to save the file and select CSV (Comma delimited) (*.CSV) from the Save as type drop-down list below.
  • Select Save.
  • In the Export Wizard dialog box that opens, select Next >.
  • Select Use Existing Map and click Next >.
  • Select WebResourceExport from the list and click Finish.

A CSV file will be generated and saved in the specified location. To import the CSV file into Web Resource, follow the steps given below:

  • Log into Web Resource as the administrator.
  • Select Projects from the top menu bar.
  • Select Import Projects.
  • Click Browse and browse to the location where the CSV file was saved.
  • Click Import.
