Issue: User is not able to submit timesheet during the last week of the month. Error: Week total should be greater than or equal to 40.0000 hour

Cause: This happens when you have validation rule set to week validation. Users get the following error message.

"Error:The timesheet hours do not meet one or more of the following validation requirements

Week total should be greater than or equal to 40.0000 hour(s)"

Week-type validation conditions apply to each seven-day (full week) span of a timesheet period, beginning from the first day of the period. However, if the timesheet period ends part-way through a full week, the condition will still be applied. During these partial weeks, users will rarely enter enough hours to pass validation, and will be unable to submit their timesheets.

Your organization uses a monthly timesheet period, and you have set up a week-type condition that requires users to enter at least 40 hours in their timesheet each full week.

A timesheet period begins on March 1st. The week-type condition will apply to:

  • March 1 to 7 – Full week, user enters 40 hours

  • March 8 to 14 – Full week, user enters 40 hours

  • March 15 to 21 – Full week, user enters 40 hours

  • March 22 to 28 – Full week, user enters 40 hours

  • March 29 to 31 – Partial week, user enters 24 hours

The user will not be allowed to submit their March timesheet, since the partial week of March 29 to 31 does not pass validation for their week-type condition.

Soultion: Only use the week-type condition if your timesheet period is BiWeekly, Weekly, or (possibly) Manual.
