Issue:
When a timesheet user setup on SAML authentication tries to access Web TimeSheet using the iPhone app, he encounters the following error message

404-File or directory not found.
The resources you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

Cause:
This error usually shows up when the SAML transfer URL set in Web TimeSheet’s System Preferences is incorrect.

When a user on SAML authentication tries to log into the timesheet using the iPhone app, it verifies if there is a SAML transfer URL set in Web TimeSheet’s System preferences.
Ideally, SAML transfer URL entered in Web TimeSheet’s System preferences should be in the format as mentioned below:

http:// server1.com/SAML?target{0}

Solution:
To verify if you have correct SAML transfer URL set in the Web TimeSheet’s System Preferences, launch a browser, enter the SAML transfer URL http:// server1.com/SAML in the address bar of the browser and click enter, this step should display the AD authentication screen on the browser, if it does not, the SAML transfer URL could be incorrect.

Please contact your IT department to obtain the correct SAML transfer URL. Verify if it displays the AD authentication page. Once confirmed, enter the same in Web TimeSheet’s SAML transfer URL field.

Steps to change the SAML transfer URL in the Web TimeSheet.

  • Log into Web TimeSheet as an administrator.
  • Click on the Administration tab in the top menu.
  • Click on System Preferences under the System section in the side menu.
  • Enter http:// sever1.com?target{0} in SAML transfer URL field
  • Save the changes.

Note:
server1 is the name of the server where SAML directory is installed.
