Scenario:
Is it possible to change a user’s employee type in the middle of a pay-period?  For example a contract employee is changed to salaried employee.

Resolution:
The change of the employee type would depend on, if the employee’s payroll details are being tracked through reports or not.

  • If the employee’s payroll details are not being tracked through reports, then the Employee Type of the user can be changed in the user’s profile.
  • If the employee’s payroll details are being tracked through reports, then the Employee Type of the user cannot be changed. Because, this is would affect the report data. Then, the only work around would be to create a new user with the same name (Different login name). This new user profile can have a different Employee Type.

Note:
When a new user profile is created for a user, the old profile of the user should be disabled to make sure that 2 license assignments are not used for the same user.
