Resolution:

Follow the steps given below to transfer a Microsoft project into a CSV to import into Web Resource:

Exporting a .CSV file from MS Project:

It is possible to export data from Microsoft Project to a CSV file in the format required by Web Resource. The CSV file can then be imported in to Web Resource, effectively transferring project data from Microsoft Project to Web Resource.

Adding the export map:

To have Microsoft Project create a CSV file in the format required by Web Resource, an export map, which indicates which fields should be exported and in which format, must first be added to the Microsoft Project global template. An export map is provided with Web Resource and can be added to the global template as follows:

Locate the file WebResource.mpt that was installed with the Web Resource application. This file can be found in the Application Root sub folder in the folder in which the application was installed (typically C:\ProgramFiles\Replicon Inc\Web Resource)

  • Open the file in Microsoft Project.
  • Select Organizer from the Tools menu within Microsoft Project.
  • Select the Maps tab in the Organizer dialog box.
  • In the bottom, left corner of the dialog box, select Web Resource from the Maps available in drop-down list box.
  • In the bottom, right corner of the dialog box, select Global.MPT from the Maps available in drop-down list box.
  • Select Web Resource Export from the left hand side, if not already selected.
  • Select the Copy >> button. The export map will be copied to the global template.
  • Close the Organizer dialog box.
  • The map will now be accessible from all projects, enabling you to export any project to CSV format.

Export the data to .CSV file:

To export a project from Microsoft Project to a CSV file:

  • Open the project in Microsoft Project.
  • Select Save As… From the File menu.
  • Select the location you wish to save the file to and select CSV (Comma delimited) (*.CSV) from the Save as type drop-down list box.
  • Select Save.
  • In the Export Wizard dialog box that opens, select Next.
  • Select Use Existing Map and click Next.
  • Select Web Resource Export from the list provided and select Finish.
  • A CSV file will be created in the location specified. This file can now be imported into Web Resource.
