How much is your time worth? Cloud-based time management and staff tracking application Replicon helps both small companies and large enterprises including Dropbox, FedEx, Xerox and Fandango answer that question more specifically.

Its suite includes TimeCost (for tracking time against specific projects or clients), TimeAttend (for tracking both salaried and hourly employees), TimeBill (for streamline expense reporting), CloudClock (for scheduling), and WebExpense (for project costing).

Professional services firm Fisher Vista, which is using both TimeBill and WebExpense, adopted the applications after evaluating almost a half-dozen, said Adriana Saldana, chief operating officer and vice president of the firm’s services group. “No one compared in terms of functionality or customer support,” she said.

Previously, Saldana spent the equivalent of two days every week sorting schedules and figuring out how to best monetize the time of about 20 employees. By adopting TimeBill, the company was able to streamline the time that managers and staff spent entering hours into various tracking spreadsheets, and more time on their billable work, Saldana said.

From a personal perspective, Saldana herself realized an 85 percent improvement in productivity. Plus she has been able to spend her time on researching ways to make the company’s projects more profitable.

“It also gave me immediate peace of mind, knowing that my billing data was accurate, our staff was being truly productive and that I could now focus on our business,” she said.

Pricing for the various services that Replicon offers varies dramatically. TimeBill, for example, runs $22 per user per month as a standalone application, while WebExpense is $4 per user per month. For CloudClock pricing you need to contact the company directly.

Although you have to consider the mission of the company behind the survey, a recent survey of 432 business professionals responsible for time and billing processes suggested that 87 percent of them have had challenges making traditional approaches like spreadsheets work well. Almost all of them (96 percent) said employees make mistakes when entering information; more than half of them (56 percent) indicated that they believed a cloud solution would help alleviate these challenges.

Time tracking processes are now 60 percent to 80 percent more efficient compared to our previous system, data accuracy is improved by 75 percent, and errors are reduced by 60 percent to 80 percent,” said Neil Harrison, technology director for Airsweb, a Replicon customer that sells software for safety management.

Replicon’s cloud-based applications are currently used by more than 1.5 million people in 70 different countries.
