Connery Consulting Bills Clients Painlessly with Web-Based TimeSheet Software

San Francisco, CA, February 16, 2011 – Billing clients has become dramatically simpler at Connery Consulting.

The 20-person Human Resources consulting firm has added Replicon’s Web TimeSheet Project & Billing Edition to its San Francisco-based operations, giving it a centralized way to enter billable hours and prepare data for invoices.

Web Timesheet is a web-based system that helps companies track time against projects, enter billable and non-billable time, and compare projected revenue to actual project costs. The software’s built-in reporting tools let Connery see data in real-time, and make it easy to give its clients instant updates.

Based on Web TimeSheet data, Connery provides clients with up-to-date project status reports as part of each invoice. When clients ask for additional details, Connery sends them in just minutes. This builds trust and confidence in the firm. Without Web TimeSheet, gathering the data used to require hours of manual work.

“Everything we do is on an hourly basis…and at the end of each month it was extremely painful to sit there and go from spreadsheet to spreadsheet and invoice to invoice,” said company founder Nancy Connery.

In its early days, Connery Consulting relied on individually prepared and submitted spreadsheets to track employee time on projects, and then to create invoices. This was an inefficient solution. “We needed one place where we had all the history and were able to run different kinds of reports,” said Connery. To bill clients quickly and accurately, it was critical for the firm to be able to track time centrally against projects.

“With Web TimeSheet, consultants can easily enter their project hours using an award-winning interface, from anywhere with Internet access,” said Raj Narayanaswamy, Co-CEO of Replicon. “The time tracking software automatically tracks billing rates for their various tasks, and consultants can easily add comments to help clients better understand costs.”

Connery also uses this information internally to assess productivity, and ultimately its profitability. “Replicon gave us the opportunity to track everything, to audit all of our files [including] profit versus billing…and keep very clean records, which we weren’t able to do using spreadsheets,” Connery said.

The improvement in efficiency has been pronounced, especially for billing clients. “It’s allowed me to have about an additional 10-12 hours of time to do other kinds of work,” said Connery. “On a day when I would have spent the entire time doing billing, it now takes me an hour to two hours to get all of our invoicing done. Replicon lets me do this without having to go to my consultants at the end of each week and ask them [about their hours].”

Web TimeSheet also helps Connery Consulting get advanced software benefits with needing additional resources. Like many small businesses, Connery doesn’t have an internal IT team. Replicon’s Software-as-a-Solution model (SaaS) is a good fit. It puts its Connery’s data, and the software itself, on a server “in the cloud.” They’re hosted remotely at a highly secure, fully backed-up data center. Hardware and IT infrastructure are Replicon’s responsibility, as are maintenance, upgrades and data security.
