Bay Area Repliconians Support AIDS Research and Education
Repliconians are not only 100% committed to remaining the leader in cloud-based time tracking, but we also strive to give back to our communities and to make the world a better place. We recognize that a talented group of like-minded people is somewhat obligated to make a difference for those less fortunate than we are.
Last month, 11 Repliconians participated in AIDS Walk San Francisco. This annual event has raised $82 million to fight HIV/AIDS since its inception in 1987. Our intrepid team headed (by train, taxi, car, or carpool) to San Francisco ― braving the iconic foggy skies and typical hilly streets ― and some drove around for what seemed like forever trying to find parking (Bay Area residents can relate!).
Strength in Numbers
Decked out in KEEP CALM AND REPLICON t-shirts, our team ― some accompanied by their children ― walked, jogged, and sometimes ran 6 miles (stopping to pose for a picture at each flag mile marker) to show support for AIDS and HIV research and education. The backdrop was beautiful Golden Gate Park, complete with waterfalls and green fields. The team walked among those who had either lost a loved one, been infected with the disease, or just wanted to pledge their support. There were young and old, large and small, sick and healthy.
Before the walk, teammates banded together to raise a whopping $4,425 to be donated directly to Project Inform ― the beneficiary of this year’s walk. Established in 1985, this highly respected organization helps to speed HIV medications to market, educate hundreds of thousands of HIV-positive individuals and caregivers about effective treatment, and ensure that government entities adequately fund quality healthcare programs serving HIV-positive people.
A Top Team
We don’t like to boast, but Replicon made the top 10 for tech team fundraising (#9) and the top 100 for overall teams (#67). That is pretty significant when you consider what we’re up against: Google, Facebook, Microsoft, and the like.
A big THANK YOU shout out to our volunteers and tenacious fundraisers for partnering with our local communities to make them a better place!
