Upgrading to Web TimeSheet Version 7.2
Web TimeSheet is dependent on license keys. Before attempting an upgrade it is very
important to ensure the following conditions are met:
- Your maintenance program is current
- You are running Web Timesheet 5.1 or higher
If either of these conditions is not met, performing an upgrade may leave your application
in an unusable state. Instructions on confirming the above are provided below.
To ensure a successful and safe upgrade, perform all of the following steps
in the order outlined below.
Step 1 - Check that the maintenance program is current for each of your modules:
- Log in to Web TimeSheet as an administrator.
- Select Admin from the top menu bar.
- Select Licensing (or About Web TimeSheet in earlier versions) from
the side menu.
- Select the License Keys tab.
- Locate the Build Period column and review the dates shown for each of the
modules. Make sure you read the date from the Build Period column under the
License Key tab, as this date is different from the build date shown under
the System Information tab.
- If the Build Period end date is July 22, 2007 or earlier, do not proceed
with the upgrade, instead contact Replicon Support. If the Build Period end
date is July 23, 2007 or later, proceed to step 2.
Step 2 - Check the specific build version of Web TimeSheet:
- Log in to Web TimeSheet as an administrator.
- Select Admin from the top menu bar.
- Select Licensing (or About Web TimeSheet in earlier versions) from
the side menu.
- Select the System Information tab.
- Read the value shown in the Build field.
- If the value shown is less than 5.1.0.0, do not proceed with the upgrade. Please
contact Replicon Support. If Build shows 7.2.6.0,
your software is already upgraded to the latest version. If Build shows 5.1.0.0
or greater, use the links below to download the installation file and then continue
to step 3:

download1.replicon.com/products/wts/release/7.2/wts72.zip
(zipped version)
Step 3
- Do you have any Web TimeSheet customizations, as created by the Replicon Professional
Services Team? If so, contact
Replicon Support before upgrading.
Step 4
- Create a backup of your existing database before beginning the upgrade process.
For information on backing up your database, consult the documentation provided
with your database platform.
Step 5
- Are you using an Oracle 8 database with your Web TimeSheet installation? If so,
contact
Replicon Support before upgrading, as the
minimum requirements for using version 6.7 or later of Web TimeSheet with Oracle
have been increased from Oracle 8 to Oracle 9. (Customers using other databases
are not affected by this change.)
Step 6
- Are you using a Microsoft SQL Server 7 database? If so, contact
Replicon Support before upgrading, as the
minimum requirements for using version 7.1 or later of Web TimeSheet with SQL Server
have been increased from SQL Server 7 to SQL Server 2000 with Service Pack 4. (Customers
using other databases are not affected by this change.)
Step 7 - Install the upgrade:
- We recommend implementing the upgrade in a test environment first.
- Stop the Web TimeSheet service.
- Close the services window. The Web TimeSheet service will be marked as disabled
at the end of the upgrade process if you do not close the services window. If the
Web TimeSheet service is disabled after the upgrade, please make sure the services
window is closed, open a command prompt window, move to the directory Web Timesheet
is installed in, and issue the command "RTServer.exe -i". This will re-register
the service.
- Launch the wts72.exe file that you downloaded.
- Select Upgrade as the type of setup, when prompted.
- If the directory where you initially installed Web TimeSheet is different than what
is displayed, select Browse and select the correct directory, when prompted.
- Follow the onscreen instructions.
Note: Upgrades for the ACCPAC, Peachtree, and QuickBooks (IIF) Integration Managers
will be installed as part of the main Web TimeSheet upgrade.
