Administration
New Options Added to the System Preferences
The following options have been added to the System Preferences screen:
"Split project/task into two columns on timesheet" allows you to split the timesheet Task column, which contains any combination of client/project/task (depending on the user preferences), into multiple columns. Splitting the Task column will allow your users to clearly recognize projects and tasks as separate entities in their timesheets.
"Add a column for client on timesheet" allows you to add a third column to the timesheet for client information. This option is available only if you have chosen to split the timesheet Task column. When this option is selected, the timesheet displays columns in the order of client, project, and task.
"Microsoft Office XP administrative installation point" allows you to specify a network share where users can download and install the Microsoft Office Web Components (OWC), which are required to use the Pivot reports in Web TimeSheet. When a user accesses the Pivot reports, Web TimeSheet will determine whether OWC must be installed, and, if so, provide a link (the installation point you specify) where the user can download and install the OWC.
If you do not specify an installation point, Web TimeSheet will provide a link where the user can download the OWC directly from the Microsoft website.
Projects
Mass Edit Project Team Assignments
You can now manage a single team member's assignments across multiple projects using the Mass Update feature. The Mass Update feature will allow you to allow/deny a user access to any or all of the tasks within a group of selected projects (including the projects themselves, if applicable).
For example, if your organization has just hired a new employee, you can assign that employee to all appropriate projects and tasks en masse, eliminating the hassle of opening each project and modifying task assignments individually.
Timesheet
Task Column Split into Multiple Columns for Client/Project/Task
The timesheet Task column, which currently contains any combination of client/project/task (depending on the user preferences), can now be split into multiple columns, allowing users to clearly recognize the clients, projects, and tasks as separate entities in the timesheet.
Reports
Pivot Reports
Web TimeSheet Pivot reports use the Microsoft Excel PivotTable and PivotChart features to provide easy to use customization options and the ability to generate graphical representations of report data. For specific information about using the Pivot reports, click on the Microsoft Help icon in the Pivot report toolbar, or refer to your Microsoft Excel user documentation.
Each Pivot report provides dual filtering options - raw data filtering and loaded data filtering. This means that before you generate a Pivot report, you will need to select the data you want to extract from the Web TimeSheet database (defaults are provided). Once the pivot report has loaded the filtered raw data, you can create your own filters within the table itself (the table allows any field to be used as a filter with multi-select functionality). When using the chart format, keep in mind that generating a report with a large amount of data may require changing the chart orientation to properly display the field labels.
Minimize the Report Filters
The report filters can now be minimized to provide more screen space when viewing report data. Web TimeSheet will maintain this view as long as you are logged into the application.
System
Minimize the Top Menu
You can now minimize the top menu to provide more vertical screen space when working in Web TimeSheet. Just click the to hide the top menu. Web TimeSheet will maintain this view as long as you are logged into the application.
MSDE Installation
The Web TimeSheet installation package is now available for Microsoft Database Engine (MSDE). The MSDE installation may be used as an alternative to the existing Microsoft Access version; however, if you require real-world examples of how Web TimeSheet might be implemented, it is recommended that you install the Microsoft Access version of Web TimeSheet, which provides a variety of sample databases for evaluation purposes.
