Setting up permissions

Looking for help with this feature in Polaris PSA or Polaris PPM? Check out Setting up permissions in the Polaris help.

Permission sets, in combination with product licenses, determine what features and data users can access. Several types of permission sets are available, corresponding to roles within Replicon. Each user can be assigned one permission set of each type.

You can create as many permission sets as you need to meet your requirements. Or, you may choose to use or update the default permission sets, instead of creating new sets.

Adding a permission set

To create a new permission set:

  1. Go to Administration > Employees and Organization > Permission Sets.
  2. Click Add Permission Set.
  3. Give the new set a name, and select the type of permission set from the drop-down.

The page will update with all configurable permissions for the selected permission set type.

If you are adding a User or Project Management set, a User Types section also displays.

  1. If applicable, ensure check boxes are selected only for each user type (role) the permission set will define permissions for.

The page will update with all configurable permissions for the selected user type.

  1. Enable or disable the available permissions, as desired.
  2. Click Add.

You can now assign the permission set to users in their user profiles.

FAQs

Why aren’t the changes I’ve made to a permission set taking effect?

After creating or editing a permission set, you may need to log out and back in to the application before changed permissions will come into effect.

What happens if I make changes to a permission set that is already assigned to users?

The updated permissions will apply to all users assigned that permission set.

When editing a permission set, first confirm that the change should apply to all users who are assigned the set. If the change should only apply to some users, you may need to create a new permission set, and assign that to users requiring the changed permissions instead.
