It is also important to discuss timesheet benefits with your employees prior to launch so they understand why the system is being implemented. Getting employee buy-in early in the process goes a long way to gaining user trust and adoption.

I think timesheets are a bit overdone in some cases. I do agree that timesheets are important and provide valuable data and insights into employee productivity and project tracking. However, when a manager goes overboard asking for minute details to be logged in every time, it’s only natural for the team to start hating filing these. It’s a two way thing – managers have to be sensitive to the overheads the team incurs while tracking stuff and the team has to be co-operative in providing relevant timesheet data.

I find that even after using Web TimeSheet beyond the adoption phase, the automated notifications feature can be a life-saver. Things get busy during the week, and often the last thing on my mind is taking time away from the task at hand to capture my hours. The notifications (for me, they come at the end of every week) give just the reminder I need to take a few minutes to easily record the hours and projects I’ve been working on.

Oh it’s a nightmare getting all my team members’ timesheets in every week. The best I can do is talk it out with them.

We did face a problem with our team not taking their timesheets seriously. And it did have quite a bit of impact on our business. But then, we pulled up everyone into a meeting and explained in detail about why their timely timesheets submissions were needed and I’m happy everyone got it. Haven’t had much of an issue since then with majority of them.

Many of our customers have shared a similar approach your described above Paul. No one likes to feel ‘big brother’ but can appreciate the need to fill in timesheets if they fully understand the reasons why. We have the email notification turned on for management to tell us which employees have not submitted their timesheets. This has been helpful as well so we can have the additional chats with the people we need to convert to submitting on time.

I often forget sending in my timesheet on Fridays and then submit them on Mondays thanks to email notifications. Some of my colleagues aren’t too happy with such emails in their inbox though – but putting up a rule in my Outlook to send such emails to a separate folder does the trick for me! – By the way, I do agree with the above comment of ‘please ask only relevant data on the timesheet – don’t make us log every single minute ’

The E-mail notification feature provided with the Web TimeSheet application is a real life saver. It saves the manager from doing micro management and keeping a track on their staff’s timesheet. It also helps employees to be reminded periodically about any unsubmitted or pending timesheets.

TimeSheets are easily the most neglected and under estimated part of work for most of the employees. Keeping a track of hourly work done can sometimes be tedious and if one misses out on noting down the time it took to complete a certain activity, it would lead to a lot of head ache. Thats why I personally appreciate the stop clock feature which helps me track accurate time per task/activity on my timesheet.

I didn’t fill out my timesheet and I didn’t get paid. I’ll use it if it reminds me to fill out my timesheet to get paid.
